What Marvel has planned for Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could connect with Rocket Racoon’s MCU origin story. Here’s how.
It’s possible that what Marvel has planned for Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. will connect with his exploration of the origin story of Rocket Raccoon. The creation of Rocket is one of the guardians of the galaxy The biggest unanswered questions of the movies, and since the third movie is supposed to be the final chapter for these characters, it’s likely that this mystery is about to be solved.
In addition to potentially following Rocket Raccoon’s original teasing, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. is confirmed to delve into another plot that was set in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. After revealing his name and his first mission in a post-credits scene in the film, the MCU will finally introduce Adam Warlock in the third installment of the trilogy. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Director James Gunn has confirmed the news that Will Poulter will be cast as the MCU’s Adam Warlock. As a central figure on the cosmic side of the Marvel Universe, he is quickly becoming one of Phase 4’s most anticipated new additions.
As for how he enters the fray, the implication is that he will seek revenge on Ayesha. However, the latter may not be back as the villain, which means that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 might have a different main antagonist. If so, Adam Warlock might become a factor in a different way. If Marvel’s intention is to build on the origin and scars of Rocket Racoon, the film will have the opportunity to fit Adam Warlock perfectly into the mix, via a character known in Marvel Comics as High. Evolutionary. Here’s how the High Evolutionary can bring those storylines together.
Marvel Comics’ High Evolution and Adam Warlock Connection Explained
Introduced in The Mighty Thor # 133 in 1966, the High Evolutionary is a scientist who lives in isolation in a secret laboratory near Mount Wundagora on Earth. Most of his experiences are linked to his obsession with evolution. Determine at “to evolve”Creatures by scientific means, the High Evolutionary has succeeded in creating many anthropomorphic beasts. Known as the New Men, these talking animal-like humanoids act as the protectors of Wundagore Mountain and have made recurring appearances alongside Marvel heroes such as Quicksilver, Thor, and The Avengers. While these creatures had a positive impact on their world, the same can’t be said for all of the work in High Evolutionary. His ambitions have made him an occasional villain of the Avengers, X-Men and more.
For Adam Warlock, on the other hand, the High Evolutionary has proven to be an ally. It is actually this character who gets the credit for transforming Adam into a major cosmic hero. The genetically modified superhuman was in the process of finding his place in the world when the High Evolutionary entered his life. He was the one who started it all by giving him the Soul Stone, upon which the majority of his adventures were built. The High Evolutionary tasked Adam Warlock with traveling to Counter-Earth and fighting some of his rogue creations. The main villain of this arc was the Wolf Man-Beast, arguably the most powerful monster ever created by the scientist. Adam’s alliance with the High Evolutionary has come to an end, but it remains an integral part of his Marvel Comics journey. Without this encounter, he would never have acquired the Soul Stone, nor would he have become Thanos’ great rival.
How High Evolutionary may explain the origin of Rocket Racoon’s MCU
Rocket’s scars and lack of explanation have turned his creator into a mystery that must be properly resolved before the trilogy ends. Looking at who High Evolutionary is in the comics, he feels like a perfect candidate. They don’t relate to the comics, but since the MCU is writing its own story, that doesn’t matter. What matters, however, is that through its association with anthropomorphic animals, High Evolutionary fits what Marvel needs from an MCU interpretation of Rocket’s tragic origin. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could establish that instead of being an Earth-based human, the High Evolutionary is an alien scientist who “evolved”Creatures like Rocket Raccoon with his barbaric procedures. If so, Rocket Racoon and beings like him could be the MCU’s take on the New Men. He may have captured animals from various worlds like Earth and turned them into intelligent creatures capable of speaking.
High Evolutionary can tie Rocket and Adam Warlock’s MCU stories together
Making the High Evolutionary responsible for the existence of Rocket Racoon could serve more than one purpose in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. While simultaneously exploring the history of a great guardians of the galaxy character, the film can finally bring Adam Warlock into the fold in a way that won’t lean too much on the previous film’s minor villains. The best way to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 to start a new story with Adam Warlock is to conclude the revenge of the second film quite quickly. It can work if Star-Lord and the others beat Adam at the start of the movie and force him to give up his mission. Alternatively, he could first meet the High Evolutionary.
Similar to the villain’s comic book counterpart, the scientist might give Adam Warlock a new life purpose. That would make sense, given that Adam might have a lot of confusion over what he’s supposed to do. As a being who was only recently born, Adam may need guidance, especially since it may take time for him to develop an understanding of the world. Additionally, Adam Warlock, already installed, is unfamiliar with the Guardians and may not feel motivated to satisfy Ayesha’s thirst for revenge. Following this route might be the best option for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, especially since the people of Ayesha were likely only introduced to create Adam Warlock. Rather, he can give this role to someone like the High Evolutionary, or perhaps one of his subjects, like the Beast-Man. And if Marvel intends to retain the essence of the original character, it could also use the High Evolutionary to give Adam a weapon with powers similar to the Soul Stone.
Star-Lord’s group cross paths with High Evolutionary and Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 can solve two major MCU story arcs at once. Fighting the Golden Gladiator while getting Rocket Racoon shut down at the same time could be the perfect way to streamline his story and assemble a new team to Guardians of the Galaxy 4. Depending on how it unfolds, the movie could end with Adam Warlock becoming a new superhero and a contender for the most powerful MCU hero.
