MCU Phase 4 Continuation of Infinity War’s Vision and Nobody Cared

Thanks to Ms. Marvel, the MCU’s Phase 4 continues to ignore Vision’s fate in Infinity War while acknowledging the sacrifices of the other Avengers.

As shown in the first episode of Ms. Marvelthe MCU Phase 4 continues to snub Avengers: Infinity Warit is Vision – and nobody seems to care. Ms. Marvelwho sets the movie 2023 Wonders, features Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), an avid 16-year-old Captain Marvel fan who gains the superhuman ability to harness cosmic energy. As it establishes a new superhero in the MCU, the six-episode Disney+ show follows the Phase 4 pattern of ignoring Vision’s sacrifice in Infinity War.

Since Vision (Paul Bettany) had the Mind Stone, he was a huge obstacle to Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) goal of committing mass murder. As such, he insisted that Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) destroy the Mind Stone, and with it, him. Although Wanda initially refused, she had no choice but to smash the stone and kill Vision, as the Avengers’ race against time to save him failed. However, this sacrifice was ignored as Thanos used the Time Stone to revive Vision and retrieve the Mind Stone, killing him again and completing the Infinity Gauntlet. Unfortunately, the events of Avengers: Endgame seemingly overshadowed this tragic event, as the MCU’s Phase 4 consistently implies.

In Ms. Marvel episode 1, Kamala and her best friend Bruno (Matt Lintz) attend AvengerCon, which celebrates the heroism of the Avengers. Interestingly, the convention references various details of the Battle of Earth, specifically the deaths of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.). In fact, a mural specifically dedicated to these heroes is erected, where loving fans pin their letters and express their gratitude and adoration for the two. But, not a single mention of Vision’s sacrifice is made throughout the fan convention, extending what the Phase 4 shows and movies have done so far.

The MCU has explicitly stated that ordinary people know about Thanos, his motivations, his subsequent defeat, and its consequences. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier discussed in detail the Blip’s impact on world governments, while Hawkeye revealed that some believe Thanos was right. It also seems like intricate details about the Avengers War have become public knowledge, including how Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) intervened and dismantled Thanos’ fleet and the existence of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Additionally, of all the memorials honoring Black Widow and Iron Man, Vision’s presence at Infinity WarThe final battle of is barely acknowledged. His fate is recognized only in Wanda Visionjustifying Wanda’s grief.

As mentioned by Kamala Khan in the opening sequence of Ms. Marvel, podcast interviews with Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) are the main source of information about the battle. While this raises concerns about the accuracy of stories circulating among civilians, it also confirms that not all details are being shared with everyone. For example, the events of the Time Heist and the truth behind Black Widow’s End of Game death are still undisclosed. Perhaps, even though the Avengers wanted to educate the public as much as they could, they still decided to leave out some of the trickier facts so as not to cause further heartbreak or confusion. Still, the MCU’s decision to continue its snub Vision in Phase 4 is disrespectful. After all, he was also an Avenger whose sacrifice deserves recognition, as his death twice is no less than the fate of Black Widow and Iron Man.
