PM will inaugurate Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Manimandapam auditorium on Youth Day; see photos


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Manimandapam, an auditorium with open-air theater, on Wednesday January 12 on the occasion of National Youth Day. According to media reports, the government of Pondicherry built the auditorium at a cost of around Rs 23 crore for educational purposes. The site can accommodate more than 1000 people. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 25th National Youth Festival on January 12 at 11 a.m. in Pondicherry, by videoconference. National Youth Day is celebrated to mark the birthday of Swami Vivekananda. The event will be held virtually given the COVID situation in the country.

Prime Minister Modi’s official Twitter account also reported on the inauguration of Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Manimandapam on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Technology Center of the Ministry of MSMEs, established in Pondicherry. The Technology Center was set up with an investment of over Rs 122 crore. It will be equipped with the latest technologies focused on the Electronic Systems Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector. This will help empower young people to explore their skills and train 6,400 interns each year.

Prime Minister Modi is also due to inaugurate the Central Institute of Classical Tamil on Wednesday.

25th National Youth Festival

The National Youth Festival is organized with the aim of inspiring young people to work as a united force in the nation-building process. We learn that observing a day dedicated to youth is one of the greatest exercises in social cohesion and intellectual & cultural integration.

The press release from the Prime Minister’s Office said: “It aims to bring together the diverse cultures of India and integrate them into a common thread of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.”

During the event, selected essays on “Mere Sapno ka Bharat” and “Unsung Heroes of Indian Freedom Movement” will be unveiled by the Prime Minister.

Later, the National Youth Summit will be held during which there will be panel discussions on four themes, including environment, climate and SDG-led growth; technology, entrepreneurship and innovation; indigenous and ancient wisdom; and national character and nation-building. The day will also witness other events such as an open discussion with Olympians and Paralympians followed by live performances in the evening. In the morning, a virtual Yoga session will be organized.
